Find Care Compare has welcomed Professor Stephen Scott CBE as an advisor, strengthening the company's expertise in child and adolescent mental health, ADHD, and evidence-based clinical practice.

Professor Scott is Professor of Child Health and Behaviour at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, King's College London and a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist at the Maudsley Hospital, part of South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust — Europe's largest mental health organisation.

His appointment brings internationally recognised academic and clinical leadership to Find Care Compare as the platform expands its work across mental health services.

The appointment strengthens Find Care Compare's clinical credibility as a UK healthtech platform operating within ADHD and child mental health pathways.

Internationally Recognised Leadership in Child Mental Health

Professor Scott has spent over three decades as an NHS Consultant Child Psychiatrist and academic leader. His work has focused on improving outcomes for children and young people through rigorous research and practical intervention.

    He serves as:

Through the National Academy for Parenting Research, he has led large-scale studies including over 15 randomised controlled trials examining parenting and school-based interventions for ADHD and behavioural difficulties.

His work has shaped national and international approaches to child mental health intervention.

    Academic and Clinical Contributions

Professor Scott has led research involving thousands of families and secured significant funding to advance evidence-based parenting programmes.

He is co-author of the widely used textbook Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (Goodman & Scott, 3rd edition), a core reference within the field.

In recognition of his contributions to child health, he was awarded a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 2014 and elected a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences in 2017.

His academic training includes a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from the University of Cambridge.

    Strengthening Evidence-Based Mental Health Infrastructure

Find Care Compare was founded to address healthcare information inequality, particularly within areas such as ADHD and mental health where referral pathways and waiting times can vary significantly.

As the platform scales nationally, ensuring that service information is grounded in clinical evidence and best practice is critical.

Professor Scott's advisory role will support:

    • Evidence-led development of mental health service information
    • Responsible communication of ADHD pathways
    • Alignment with best practice in child and adolescent psychiatry
    • Support for families navigating complex referral systems

Mental health navigation requires more than transparency — it requires accuracy, nuance and clinical integrity. Professor Scott's appointment reinforces Find Care Compare's commitment to evidence-based infrastructure.

    Supporting Families and Young People

Children and young people face sustained pressure within UK mental health services, particularly in relation to ADHD assessment and behavioural support.

By bringing senior clinical and academic expertise into its advisory network, Find Care Compare strengthens its ability to support families seeking high-quality, reliable information.

Professor Scott's involvement reflects shared ambition to improve access, clarity and outcomes in child and adolescent mental health.
